Ostrich will not verify
Info:
91 TBI
ECM 7747
OEM bin ARJT
Socket booster 1.0
G2 adapter
Ostrich 2.0
I have searched the site until I am blue in the face. I have tried everything that I have read from searching.
No matter what bin I load into TunerproRT and the Ostrich, I can't get the TunerproRT to verify the Bin on the ram in the Ostrich. I have tried to get it to verify by disconnecting the ribbon cable from the Ostrich. I also have the switches on the side set to 28/32-28. .
It was working just fine one day then the engine light came on and started flashing very fast and since then I can not get the ECM out of limp mode. I have checked the battery in the Ostrich with a digital multimeter and it shows to be a solid 3 volts. I even change the disable check sum to 0xAA and 0x04. Didn't even notice a difference. I have the Ostrich here on the table and it will not verify that the .bin that is in it is the same as the one in TunerproRT.
Corrupt ECM maybe?
Thanks

Re: Ostrich will not verify
Well it sounds like you have a problem with the Ostrich since it won't verify.
Does it show upload ok? Not failed, in the lower tool bar in TP RT?
Do you have an E/EPROM reader (programmer)?
If you do, you can use this to verify that the Ostrich is accepting the bin.
You do this by connecting the emu cable to the programmer, place it like you would an actual E/EPROM, minding the pin #1 location.
Upload your bin file to the Ostrich. Then with the programmer set to read 27SF512 or similer E/EPROM, the 512 part seems to be the important part. Read the bin file from the Ostrich.
You will have to scroll to 000F (IIRC) to look at the first line of the bin file when using a bin for the 7747.
Open the hex editor in TP RT, and cross check at least the first line of each bin file, in TP RT and the buffer in the programmer program. These should match, except for bit 04 being changed to AA due to the disable checksum at upload being checked in the set-up.
If these do not match, then you most likely have a problem with the Ostrich and should contact Craig.
You may also have a bad ECM as you suggest, I did have that problem with a '7747, that once we decided it was going to work well, and was mounted to the cab of the truck, behind the glove box using a metal bracket. This apparently blew the ECM, changed it to a plastic bracket and all was fine.

Re: Ostrich will not verify
TunerproRT says "upload success". I then go to verify and it says "Verify Failure" Here is the weird thing. If I upload a bin in to the Ostrich and then download the same bin to file from the Ostrich back to TunerproRT and then do a Difference tool compare on it. They will be the same. I have a programmer but it is at a friends house but I know what you are talking about.

Re: Ostrich will not verify
I just uploaded the bin to the Ostrich and them immediately download and it worked. But uploading the bin to the Ostrich and then verifying fails.

Re: Ostrich will not verify
What definition do you have loaded when you go through this operation? You should have the proper XDF loaded when doing I/O with the Ostrich.

Re: Ostrich will not verify
I have tried $42. I have also tried 7747mine.XDF on fileman. Both will not verify. I am starting to think that I F'd up my ecm.
Thanks for all the help so far.

Re: Ostrich will not verify
On my Autoprom, I HAVE to verify WITHOUT the ribbon cable connected to the ECM or the same thing will happen. After I verify, I connect the ribbon cable, wait 10 seconds, then turn the key and make sure the SES light flashes on-off-on, then I know everything from that point out will work.
Maybe it works the same as the Ostrich?

Re: Ostrich will not verify
Well did you try verifying without the ribbon cable attached first? Might have saved you some time and money.

Re: Ostrich will not verify
I usually solder a standard 24 pin dip socket in the 7747, and then stack the 28 pin adaptor on top of that. I actually made the 28 pin adaptor from 28 pin dip socket, after finding the information on the interweebnetz, about whihc pins to short.
