EBL problem: won't read chip
I went out to do some tuning and I couldn't get the car started at first (had to use clear flood mode) once it started it ran real rough and rich and the attached pic is what the WUD displayed.
So after investigating and swapping out different chips and getting nowhere I checked to see what the WUD displays without a chip. So when I took out the chip and reopened the WUD it shows the same thing when I turn the car in the run position. So for some reason the EBL is not reading the chip. Anybody have any ideas, or is my EBL the first one to fail

Check for the SES blink at key-on, engine-off. That verifies that the ECM is running from the PROM and not in limp mode. The SES blink is as follows:
At key-on, engine-off, the SES will turn on, blink off, then turn on solid.
The blink off is the 'SES blink.' Wait 10 seconds with the key-off before repeating the test.
If the SES doesn't do the blink, the ECM is not running from the PROM and is in limp mode.
Double check that the notch on the PROM is toward the center of the ECM. And that no pins are bent under.
If this was a new burn, is the stacking or offset ok.

Wow, there is no way it took me 11 minutes to type that. Your 2nd post came through while I was typing my first reply.
For a verify on the burner, it can be several items: chip direction, chip offset within the ZIF socket, incorrect burn algo, P/S to burner, bad PROM.

Re: EBL problem: won't read chip
I checked for the 'SES blink' and it doesn't blink at all. It has to be something with the Burn 1, I have 3 chips that I've tried and they all won't verify. I know the one is bad because it won't erase. The offsets I assume are correct as what I am using is in the pic above. Any suggestions?

The chip & buffer addressing is correct.
When inserting the chip into the Burn1 the notch is toward the handle. However, the chip sits away from the handle. IOW, the chip is inserted into the ZIF with 2 empty rows between it and the handle.

Re: EBL problem: won't read chip
Well I reinstalled the Burn1 and all the device drivers and reconfigured it according to the documentation and it improved slightly. When I burn the chip is still does not verify against the buffer, but when I read the chip and save it and then read it in TunerPro the numbers in the VE and Spark tables almost match but the graph is all blocky and not smooth. And then I checked other tables and most of the numbers match but there are a few that are off by a few numbers compared to the file I am burning. I called Craig at moates.net and he wasn't in by is going to call me back and hopefully can figure it out over the phone. Anyone have any other suggestions?
