Funny story and weird issue (TunerPro CTS reading)

Alright, first the funny (to me) story.

I was running my car via emulator (Ostrich 2.0 and ALDL cable both to laptop), as I just got these things in and I was playing around. So I went to drive away and I shut the lid to my laptop. Apparently this completly kills my USB, thereby killing the Ostrich (which was in emulation mode, requiring a laptop to run). I had to figure out that I had to uninstall my USB drivers, reboot, reinstall them and then re-run Tunerpro RT to get the program to see my Ostrich and allow me to upload a new binary. I hate my laptop.

Not sure if this is the right place for this, but:
TunerPro RT reads -39.99 degrees on my CTS. Am I right to assume that the dash gauge and ECU use the same sensor? I have an independant reader which reads the temperature just fine, and my gauge reads the temp fine, would this be a TunerPro RT problem? Or maybe something else weird going on? My car IS running rich, but I do not know if this is because of the temp sensor to the ECU being bad, or something else.

One of the rare times I can answer something on this forum lol.
They use different senders. The one from the ECM is located at the front of the intake manifold for TPI cars, under the water neck.

The sender for the temp gauge is located in the drivers side head.

Good job Jay.

Sometimes, it is hard to get a word in, with so much talent on this board.

Yeah I hear that Jay, I feel kinda useless, always asking questions and never being able to give answers around here

My *.ads file matches the *.ds file for my engine/ecu when it comes to coolant temp, and I've replaced the sensor. Since the independant OBD1 reader can see the temp, this means it has to be a TunerPro issue. I'll post on their forums unless anyone else here has any ideas?

Try Datamaster (Free to try) and see what the temps are.

something else to watch for when your running around in emulation mode is screen saver.
its best to disable all power saver functions when your emulating & to always have a good known working chip with you.

yeah, i carry my stock memcal+origional ECU with me now, and all the tools required to put it back in, just incase the Ostrich takes a crap on me.

Datamaster read the temp just fine, its tunerpro which isnt working right. I'll just finish up writing my own datalogging program.

Re: Funny story and weird issue (TunerPro CTS reading)

Hi all,

I'm having the same problem. the reading with Tunerpro is crazy but my gauge shows correct and the heat that comes from the engine seems just fine to me. I guess it's more a ads file problem than a tunerpro problem. but I'm just guessing.
