7747 VSS signal

So the 7747 needs 2000 pulse per mile right? If I get a 4000 pulse per mile VSS can I just go in and change the values in the chip so that they are approximately twice in order to "scale" it. What is the maximum value that can be used in the computer for a speed reading? (BTW its a manual transmission so only need closed loop idle threshold and dfco)
