attempting to datalog a 165 MAF ecm

Guys I'm getting better with my autoprom from Moates.net. I can sucessfuly burn chips and emulate. I've fought for quite a while trying to get the car to datalog though. I couldn't get the ALDL to connect until I changed the $6E definition file to 160 baud. Now the blue ALDL connected window lights up, but none of the data updates, all I have are a bunch of 0s and nothing reads like it should. I e-mailed Moates, but they havent responded yet and I'd like to wrap this thing up. Any help or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks guys.

1MeanZ: How are you doing? Its been awhile.

I can not help you with Moates' datalogger, basically, you need Moates to jump in here OR someone who uses his stuff. I only have an ancient AutoXray 240,,, it takes one snap shot at a time, very tedious to tune this way.

I can meet up with you this Saturday. I can help you figure out the Moates software or use my scanner and burn some chips. Just let me know.

well I had hoped Moates would have e-mailed me back by now, but I havent heard anything yet. I will be around this Saturday if you are available, that would be awesome. I'd really appreciate a 2nd opinion on some of this stuff. Maybe it's something Im doing wrong. I basically just need to datalog to find a few hiccups in my tune, nothing major, just annoying little things ya know? I'll PM you for more details. Thanks again.

What ALDL cable do you have?
Do you have the right *.adl file? (6E if you are using 6E code)

Screenshot on the "setup" view?

/N.

Do you have the 10K ohm resistor enabled between pins A and B? The '165 ECM requires this to enable the ALDL datastream.

If you are using a Moates ALDL Extreme, there is a switch that is on the side. You will notice at the bottom of the label small preint that says "10K <--> open", switch this to 10K.

I do have the switch on my autoprom in the correct position for 10K resistance. I'm using the ALDL cable with the category 5 network plug on the end that plugs in to the autoprom itself.
