Many years ago when my engine was stock (87 vette, 350), I had removed the screens AND fins from the MAF sensor in hopes of picking up incredible amounts of horsepower ha ha. Needless to say, that didn't do the trick...

Then I put in the mini ram 383 combo I have now, and tuned the MAF tables (and scalars) using the de-screened and de-finned MAF sensor.

Well, that sensor finally crapped out and I purchased a new AC Delco / Bosch unit.

Based on everything I've read, I was planning to keep the screens and the fins in place this time around. My question is - should I go back to the stock MAF / Scalar tables as my starting point?

I know I'll have to do some tweaking at the upper and lower ends of the airflow spectrum again, but was thinking that the stock tables would be a better starting point for a stock MAF sensor than my tweaked tables based on the modified sensor.

I would just "tweak" your existing Tables. I say this because I have found even BONE STOCK cars can benefit with a little tuning of the tables. Most of the "differences" probably have more to do with your Miniram Intake and larger TB than the de-screened MAF. But they are ALL factors.

As well, even if you kept the screens and go to a different brand of MAF, it isn't a bad idea to "tweak" the MAF Scalar tables as well. There are always "manufacturing differences" even within the same brand.

Thank you - I will definitely go that route. Now that I have a properly functioning MAF sensor, it shouldn't take too long to get the tables dialed in.
