92 v6 eprom question.

hey whats up guys, im kinda new to the whole burning eproms world here, just bought a 92 camaro with a 3.1 v6 and a 5speed t-5, which i have plans for, but my problem is i can search my @ss off for chips for this v6 and all i can find is hypertech chips and other chips of that nature(i dont want to waste my money on those) so im going to be learning how to burn my own before i start slapping cams, turbos, etc.. into the engine. i have already starting looking into programmers and looked into editors and such which im going to need, but i cant figure out which eprom my car has so i can have spares, maybe one of you guys might have an idea or can tell me where i can look to find out which type of eprom i have?

Re: 92 v6 eprom question.

The latest calibration for your car is BAWX. Your ECM is on the passenger side under the dash. On a slide mount. Remove hush panel, push the bottom of the ECM forward, once the velcro lets go it slides down and out.

Pop the small cover off and check out the MEMCAL (pictures in sticky on DFI & ECM board). Will have the BCC on the PROM. ECM will also have it's Service No. on it.

Re: 92 v6 eprom question.

My thread (V6 owners, take a look) won't help you, you have a '730 ecm and my thread's about the '165. Read through the stickies at the top, everything you need to know is there under the basic eprom burning and '730 related articles. All you need is a willems burner ($40) an eprom ($5) and an aldl link cable ($50-100) and a laptop to monitor things with.

Re: 92 v6 eprom question.

So for a 60degree V6 owner with a '730 would anybody here recommend going with SAUJP v4, recalibrated for a smaller 6?
I've got a both a carbed 2.8 Blazer and an iron duke S15 that I'm thinking about doing that to, but so far I have not read about anybody using 8D for smaller engines. It would make my tuning world much simpler with fewer masks to learn and set up in TunerPro and ScannerPro.
