MPH VSS on a repinned 165-730

-Ok I am using a 1987 700r4 (F-body), that from my searches means I have a 2000 ppm Magnetic VSS. (Am I correct?)

-Code 59 has a Flag for Magnetic Speed Sensor that should be checked (Am I correct?)

-730/749 with code 59 should recieve a signal of 4000ppm. (Am I correct?)

-In the VSS section of Constants/Scalars, can I put 2000ppm's into Road Speed Constant (KSPDSEN) OR can I put .50 into Road Speed IP Pulse Divisor (KSPDIR)

I'm not sure what the differences are between an 87 and an 88 VSS, but on my GTA all I had to do was uncheck bit 7 for VSS Magnetic. That and plug in the VSS! (was trying to move waaay to fast that day)

Re: MPH VSS on a repinned 165-730

cars that run code 58/59 stock use a drac box (i think its called) so its not the same as running $8D. or the 165

i haven't really figured mine out 100% yet.

from what i can tell searching, your older car has a buffer box the outputs a square wave 2000ppm so to use the magnetic input of $59 you'd have to bypass that and run the vss wire stright to the ecm's mag input and check that box and uncheck the other. i don't know if Constants/Scalars can be adjected to make it work right thou. you may be able to run that 2000ppm sqaure wave into the opti input but i think its on a different pin than the mag input of 58/59. may want to search for that. it may just work for you.

does you dash speedo work now? because it seemed like from what i read the older 165 didn't go into the ecm and back out to the speedo like the 730s did. i've even thought of trying to find an older buffer box to wire in and knock down the ppm i have imputting into my ecm now.

the way i have it is stright from my t56 which is mag around 40,000ppm into the ecm mag input. the mag box checked and the output sent to the speedo. i have the speed right in tunerpro but can't get the dash right. i can only get it to read 10mph high. either way i adj the pulse divisor makes the speed o read higher than it is. so i'm kinda at a loss.

good luck figuering it out and post up if you find anything.

My speedo in the dash, works just like is always has, just tunerpro only shows that it is moving (bit), and maxes out a 2mph, from the search so far I haven't found anyone in my getup, so It looks like, I am on my own... I found a lot of Drac topics on code59.org and they seem to play around with the constants alot. I am greatful for any info, that anyone has to offer!!!

seeing that your speedo already works, you just need the input to the ecm to be right. that should work.

you could tie into the wire from the vss before the buffer and run it stright into the ecm then check the mag input in Tunerpro and adj the scaler to till you get it right. 4000ppm is my guess as to waht it work.

i seem to remember that if the opti imput is checked then the ppm scaler doesn't work. but i'd search that to make sure i'm right.
