Opinions on '85 ECM

Hey guys, i'm new to the ECM and electronics scene, but i have an '85 iroc with the stock computer. Now, this summer i replaced the stock 305 with a 350 L05. I got an aggressive cam from Comp-cams with higher lift and duration, and am planning newer heads + roller rockers/springs. It has the ol' TPI setup from the 305 still, and everything works. She runs and we changed the timing to get it at least driveable. Now, i think the computer is confused because it'll run great for a while and then go into LHM while driving.

I've read a lot about EPROM burning and how to home-burn chips, but i recently stumbled upon the PROMINATOR. So i was wondering, based on my mods and engine setup, would you guys recommend a newer ECM swap? Or burning PROMS? Or gettin the PROMINATOR. I know the 85 ecm is slower than the newer ones, but doing as little modification as possible would be great for me, thanks!

Only one choice IMO the Flash-EBL dynamicefi.com for the average tuner(me).

If you are already a decent tuner take a look at megasquirt latest edition.

I see, what would be the difference between this and PROMinator, because this is $350 vs $200/$300 for prominator.

Re: Opinions on '85 ECM

apples and oranges. Prominator is a flash built in emulator with option to have bin switcher. Flash EBL is above(10 bins held) with expanded improved ECU. you get a better ECU. Faster/expanded tables for spark and fueling(main/AE/PE). Better resolution as a result. With Prominator you still get the old GM ECU. EBL is a diff ECU when it is updated. EBL is also a datalogging system that when log is done it creates a "corrected" bin for you and you can flash it into EBL if you like. EBL supports N02 and Boost as well. Now I have Prominator on the EBL as Flash was not yet available. I am sure I missed more to tell.
