HELP!

so i have been siting in my truck trying to get it to run right again for the last 4 hours. i uploaded a bin file into the ostrich 2.0 which i have installed properly, and then i selected up the proper xdf file and the truck ran great. but when i tried to change something it said update failed, i was just playing with things like fuel cutoff, or desired idle rpm, just to play around with it, this was my first time messing with anything. i really dont remeber how, but i got it to work, and it lowered my fuel cutoff to something ridiculous like 1200rpms or something like that, it updated, the motor died and when i went to start it back up nothing is hapening, it runs(like crap) but i get no readings from anything when i datalog. so i go and change it back to how it was, and update it, still same problem. so i delete the bin file, and download the bin file again, and then upload it into the emulator again, nothing changes. i dont have a clue what to do, my brain is so fried from thinking about it all, i cant really think of what to do first, my brain is so fried im having trouble remembering what i even did.

Re: HELP!

7747 ECM, correct?

If so, do you have the Socket Booster installed?

I had similar problems when I first started messing with a 7747.

A couple things to check, that the "checksum is disable at upload" is checked in the tools>ALDL/Emulation tab, and that you actually have emulation turned on. Click the icon that looks like an EPROM in the toolbar.

Re: HELP!

no, i have the 7427 ecm. i have the truck running now, i cleared everything all out and uploaded the proper bin to my emulator and it ran, untill about 2 seconds ago, i went to number of cylinders and changed it to 10, of courseit dies, i go to change it back to 8 and now its acting the way it was earlier. it let me play wiht things like initial timing advance in real time and it worked fine. i dont understand what im doing wrong.
----------
also, everytime it starts acting up like this, it will not recognize my data log cable no matter what i do, untill i disconnect the emulator.

Re: HELP!

Sounds like your ECM is reverting to Limp Home mode.

There should be no reason to adjust the cylinder count anyway.

I believe the 427 uses a MEMCAL alot like the 7730, in which case had a 28 pin chip and doesn't require the socket booster.

Re: HELP!

Don't play with the cylinder count parameter. It is used in the spark timing calculations.

Make sure that you have the MaskID set to $AA for emulating. This bypasses the checksum test.

At this time I would put the PROM back in and get away from it for at least a day (two days may be better). Then come back to it.

RBob.

Re: HELP!

i was messing with the number of cylinders becasue it was an easy adjustment and would definitly show that it my adjustments are going through.

i changed the mask to what you said, ill see if it makes it any beter.

Re: HELP!

driving it on the stock bin file sucks! i cant touch the boost or itl go lean and it just feels gutless, i used to be able to roast the tires with very little throttle, now it just refuses. im getting familiar with the program and how to use it now, but i dont really know how to deal with the VE tables properly, i need to read more about it.
