problems getting Burn1 to work
i've got my Burn 1 hooked up, and opened Flash & Burn. the only options i have to do anything are to edit the Chip Addressing, the Buffer Addressing, Cancel the Operation, and Close.
in the box at the bottom of the window, in the big white box it says:
i've tried hooking it up before, after, reinstalled several times, and still get nothing.
Moates is very helpful with this one, as they removed all documentation of the Burn1's existance from their website.
here's what i keep seeing.

in reinstalling Flash & Burn several times, every time i plug in the Burn1, it auto-installs drivers. do i need to install any additional drivers?
what am i doing wrong? no matter what i do, i get the same exact window pictured above. we toyed with the shift points and such a bit, and i want to burn this so i can get a good baseline.

PromIO.dll Version: 1.00.1923.00
HW: No Hardware Found. Connect hardware, and restart window.

ok, what are the file names of the drivers? none of the names make any sense at all.
i've run the CDM_setup Auto Installer, and it gets me nowhere.
does the fact that i'm running Windows Vista make any difference?

Re: problems getting Burn1 to work
nothing about solutions, just stating they have a problem.
been through their setup on the website, and everything looks kosher, but it still wont work.
gonna fire up the desktop and see if it works on XP. i dont really have a need to burn a chip in the truck, so working from the desktop would work just as well, just use the flash drive to transfer the BIN from on comp to the other.

Re: problems getting Burn1 to work
I have had problems getting my Burn1 to work today and I have xp.
I looked at all the setup stuff and I don't see anything about a solution for Vista.
Go back to moates.net and send them an email there, it may take a day or so but you will get a reply. Did you try http://support.moates.net? I'll go look there also.

nothing there either. the "burn1" page just links you around in circles.

Re: problems getting Burn1 to work
Shoot me a call tomorrow and I can walk you through the setup procedure over the phone if you want.
Sometimes WindowsVista and/or XP will hang up without a COM port defined, and you have to "Load VCP" under the USB device driver settings. Then when you cycle the USB again it should come up under Ports. Then make sure you set it up to COM5 or COM6 under the Ports / USB Serial / COMx Port Settings under the Advanced button. Change it up and see if that helps.
Hope this helps,
Craig

Here is another which shows the configuration of the USB Serial COM5 port, as well as the acceptance of the final warning about the port being used.
