OBII? HUH?

I'm looking for parts so my laptop could read my 1989 camaro computer.
I think its a serial connector and then i think a OBDII adapter? Or should I do usb to serial and then a OBDII adapter? (is there a cheap adapter that goes into the computer directly to hook up to my laptop?)

Would this help "reprogram" my computer?

regards,
Timinsk

Your car is OBD 1. You can't program it through the ALDL port.

You will need an OBD-1 cable, chip programmer, and adaptor that allows the use of flash chips in place of the 2732 EPROM thats in the ECM. Moats.net sells the items you will need to burn new chips. The other option is EBL Flash, which replaces your ECM with a customized TBI ECM from RBob (dynamicefi.com) that allows re-flashing using the laptop.

Would RBob be bet or should I go with Moats.net? (i just checked moats.net it doesnt exist)

Looking for a cheap way to reprogram the ecm if possible.
