not asking for referal just a little help
ive concluded with the amount of mods i have and having half of the emissions parts off the car, i need to tune my computer.
I've read through the posts and have realized that it takes alot of time to tune a computer...time i do not have.
I've tried searching for tuners in my area but haven't returned any results.
So can anyone suggest some ways for me to search for a tuner? Maybe a few keywords or phrases.
My #6 cylinder is running very lean and i need to fix this ASAP.
any help is great. thanks in advance.

Re: not asking for referal just a little help
Are you running TPI? TPI is batch-fired, meaning all 8 injectors fire at the same time. If #6 is lean, then its probably a problem with the fuel injector. Do an ohm meter test across all 8 of them. They should be more than 14 ohms when cold or warm. If that one is less than 12 ohms, its bad.

Call up some local speed shops, they should know someone or possibly be able to point you in the direction of someone that will know who tunes the OEM ECM.
Be forewarned, there doesn't seem to be a lot of guys doing this for other people. Most "tuners" seem to like to use aftermarket ECM/PCMs to tune from. The exception seems to be Ford, and OBDII GM PCMs, which there seems to be support for tuning with because of companies like SCT, and such, where these "tuners" can input some variables of what has been done to the engine/car and download a "tune" for the car.
I have yet to find anyone that tunes OBDI GM ECMs as a "buisness" or service. There seems to be a lot of confusion over how the OBDI GM ECM seems to work.
I'm going to suggest that you take some time to read through the stickies, and familarize yourself with some of the thechniques, and get into tuning your own car yourself. No one will take the time or care to tune it perfectly like you would. Yeah you'll screw up a few tunes at the start, we all do, but that's how you learn what not to do. As long as you recognize that it's bad tune before driving too far, or too hard that way and put the last known working tune in, you'll be fine and not hurt anytjing. That is afterall what most people are scared of when getting into thisis screwing ups the tune badly and ruining thier engine. I haven't heard of too many engines failing because of a short lived bad tune, while trying to get the tune right. Just take your time, and keep track of what you've done, so you can either back out of those changes, or not do those same changes again.
DIY tuning FTW!

EDIT: not a referral service. This thread is border-line but just OK as long as it just provides ideas for finding a tuner.
