use stock 92 camoro ecm or 7747?

my friend has a 1992 camaro that had a 305. he bought a 88 suburban with a new 350 in it(LO5). hes going with a mild cam and edelbrock intake. my question is.... i can tune the 7747 thats in the burban but never tuned his ecm. cant remember the #. wich one would be better suited? do any pins need to be moved on the harness? thanks.

??? so the Camaro gets the 350. I would use the current ECU from the Camaro (8746) and burn or buy a chip corrected for the 350 CID, injectors used, fuel pressure changes, and tranny used. 8746 uses a IAT sensor which is beneficial.

Leave the '8746 in the Camaro and tune it. There are only some minor differences between the '7747 and '8746, but the '8746 is better suited for a car.

Your experience in tuning the '7747 will carry directly over to the '8746 Camaro ECM.

You just need to use $61 as the ECU or XDF file. Tables are laid out very similarly to the 7747s $42 code.

There are no 350 f-body tunes for the '8746 ECM.

ANLU is for a Caprice with an L05, it is an OK starting point. Note that VATS isn't set up in it.

Re: use stock 92 camoro ecm or 7747?

That ECU should be OK. Although make sure that the first VE table entry is set up correctly. This is the 3D VE table (not the adder). The proper table setup has MAP as rows and RPM as columns.

After thinking about a starting BIN, I would use the BIN that came with the '92 Camaro. Then copy the main SA and coolant comp SA tables over from ANLU. After that the VE should be tuned in followew by final tuning of the SA.

The current BIN should be AXKT or AXKW for FED emissions.

The '8746 VE table and the '7747 VE table have the same layout. So they should both look the same as far as rows & columns. Note that they are in a different PROM location.

Re: use stock 92 camoro ecm or 7747?

My prior ECU (7747) would not fit in prescribed stock location with ZIF in 24 pin socket and 2732 in ZIF. I will suggest a ZIF is a temporary aid to swap chips. If you solder in ZIF(i would not) in replacement of stock socket I bet it would be OK. But my ZIF occasionally(rarely) would lose connection with chip go limp and fortunately I could address issue at side of road and fix as was on floor of car. That issue bugged a few others as well. Maybe some ZIFs are 100% failure proof. Not mine. Now with Prominator or flash EBL it will go back where is happy in stock location. my wife once kicked the chip loose on xway with her size 12's!

Send an email to Moates and ask. I had a socket soldered in place once by a small local computer repair shop. I believe he offers the soldering service as well. I would suggest if you place into stock location the inspection cover must be in place.

No, for the '7747/'8746 the G2 is required. Most likely the .6" pin spacing. Can check that by measuring across the pins on the bottom of the little board.
