no closed loop in 6E

Never happened to me before now....

Logging data shows O2 sensor not ready and the car only intermittently goes into closed loop when I give it a little gas or shifting from park into drive or vice-versa. After that, right back to open, showing slightly rich.
O2 sensor oscillates between 575 and about 680 and only showing crosses when blipping the throttle. Time engine is operating is not an issue, i.e., plenty of time for O2 sensor to warm up, etc.

Any ideas?

Bump.

I'm having the exact same issue, but datalog says I'm running lean instead of rich. It won't idle into CL even when its up to temp.
Any ideas?

I've got datalogs if anyone wants to see.

Consider dropping the coolant temp value about 20 deg just to see if that triggers CL?
There may also be a MPH trigger to look at.

Thanks ! I'll give that a try soon. Yesterday after it warmed to operating temps....i put the car from park to drive and it went straight to closed loop....then i put it in neutral and back to park again....it stayed closed loop as well. So I figured the LV8 load might have something to do with it? I'll check the constants again to make sure I didn't miss anything.

Update on this? Mine was running normally again (no intervention on my part) until today and now, no cl again. I'm thinking of getting a new 02 sensor...

Re: no closed loop in 6E

Well my problem actually turned out to be the fact that the previous owner kept the 1 wire O2 sensor and installed headers, forcing the O2 sensor to be farther downstream, not allowing gasses to get hot enough to kick the sensor into closed loop.

My remedy is going to be installing a 3 wire heated O2 sensor, ill be doing that tomorrow.

I would suggest you install another bung(stainless) as long as you are there for a future WB02 sensor.

sensor should be facing downward wiring upward as in 10 oclock to 2 oclock

Re: no closed loop in 6E

Have a question, my car has perfect AFR when engine cold and runs great then when it warms up AFR goes way lean like dangerous so I turn off engine quickly then the engine will NEVER refire with that chip I have to install the factory PROM from the 305 (it now has a 350) just to get it fired. Does this have to do with closed/open loop? I have used the fuel scalars, MAF tables, deg. to go into closed loop, enrich vs. coolant temp with same results other than when I add fuel it just goes pig rich when cold then right back to way lean when hot. Am I missing something here?
