Turn off shift light

I have an automatic and I'm trying to turn off this shift light.

In the constants
Shift Light Output- I raised all the way up
Shift Light RPM (8 cyl) , I've raised to 9999 RPM

Under option words

Option word 3 bit 4, I've even checked and unchecked

the darn thing still doesn't turn off, stays on all the time. Is there another area to turn this off?
thanks

Re: Turn off shift light

Are you sure that the shift light is controlled by the ECM? The reason I ask is that looking at an '84 Y body ECM pin out ('6026), none are for a shift light.

RBob.

Pull the bulb out. If there is a bulb in there, in an automatic trans car, it will come on & stay on (I know because I tried this). Just pull the bulb. Pretty simple.

Not in a digital dash its not that simple. (corvette)

Well I don't know for sure how its wired into the ecm or if that controls it. The only thing I can go off of is that when the car was a TBI and I first put ebl in the light was on. Went into the program and was able to turn it off. Went to muultiport and All of a sudden its shown up again and won't go off. May have to live with it.

Re: Turn off shift light

Well, I've literally gone through every LCD dash schmatic from years 84 to 86 and now where's can I find a wire that supplies a signal to the shift light. So looks like I better get used to it.

If you feel like emailing/PM me a link to the diagrams (or the diagrams themselves), I'll take a look at it.
