How do I hook up this ZT-2 to the EBL? I'm such a noob!

Ok guys, so I don't hijack somebody else's thread I thought I'd make my own.

I'm a complete noob when it comes to this tuning thing and I can't figure out how to hook up my ZT-2 to my EBL. I bought everything that comes with it. the wideband meter, the ZR1 gauge and 02 unit. I'm totally stumped and I seriously want to jump into tuning. I know I have to plug in the white wire into one of the 12 ports next to the "phone jack" under the case but what else do I have to do to make it work? How about the other wires coming off the wideband meter? where do they go? if anybodies got pics of this that would be awesome.

Hi, Although I don't have the gauge. Here's how I did it. I also used a relay for my unit. White wire, pin #2 from ZT-2 to channel 1 on EBL board. Brown wire, pin #8 to ground strip on EBL board. Black wire,pin#7 to a good engine ground. Red wire,pin#1 to relay. The relay is triggered from the fuel pump relay, green/white stripe pin F. When wired this way it is only powered when ECM tells the fuel pump to run,(engine is running). Don't wont to leave the switch on and burn the sensor up. Also I didn,t connect any other wires from the ZT-2 unit, they are mostly for datalogging and I use the EBL for this. Hope this helps, Dean.

Re: How do I hook up this ZT-2 to the EBL? I'm such a noob!

I havent installet mine yet, still need to install the sensor bung. This is what I came up with from looking at the zeitronix instructions and EBL information.

White wire pin2 from the zt-2 harness to one of the 8 analog strips (you alredy know)

Brown wire pin8 from the zt-2 harness to one of the 3 ground reference "GND" (they are on the left to the 8 analog strips)

Red wire pin1 from the zt-2 harness to a 12V power.

Black wire pin7 from the zt-2 to a power ground.

The other 8 wires of the zt-2 harness are not used if you use EBL. (dont know how to get rid of them they dont look like pins that can be easely pinned out, but isolating should be fine)

Let me know how it turns out, I couldent find any quick guide either.

I wouldn't recommend tapping into the ECM wiring. Note that pin A1 on the ECM is the relay coil driver. Not +12 volts.

Best for ZT2 power ground is to the engine block. Can place it on one of the bolts/studs used for the ECM ground termination.

For ZT2 +12 volts can tap into the fuse block for either ACC or IGN power. ACC will be off during cranking, while IGN will also be hot during cranking.

thanks guys, this is exactly what I needed to know. I'll post up pics and stuff when I get it done so we can have a true reference for others here on the boards.

Hi, sorry if I confused any one, I am using pin A1 on ECM to drive another relay that powers the ZT-2. I tapped into the green/white wire on the fuel pump relay for this (same as A1 on ECM). Hope this helps, Dean.
