hypertech burn?

I just got a 89 tpi ecm that came with a hypertech chip and i wanted to know if i can burn over the aftermarket chip or if im better off finding a stock memcal to use?

Well, it depends. If the chip has a ceramic body with a quartz window, then yes, it can be erased via UV-A and re-burned. If it has a plastic body and is a flash type chip, then yes, it can be re-flashed. If it has a plastic body and is a OTP, then no, it stays that way. Although (see, didn't I say it depends), if it is really a OTP EPROM in a plastic body, not a fusible link device, it can be erased via x-rays and re-burned.

I popped the Hyper chip out and put a eeprom from Moates in the Hyper memcal.

I was able to read the bin off mine. Memcal was actually for an 86 but I use it on an 87.

nope read mine too. mine had a uv window to reprogram if wanted. but why when eeproms are cheap?
