Check out www.code59.org ... there you will find powerpoint documentation, bins and other helpful things...........

Datalog is the same as for any GM ecm.

i do not have any experiece burning chips. a few times i have been able to connect my laptop to my old 730 ecm with my 350 and datalog, but i cannot do it with the 749 ecm on my current 383.

the only hardware i have is just an usb aldl cable.

the wideband i have is just a Autometer wideband.. i have heard from people that they are not very accurate. so i was considering a different wide band when i figure out how to tune.

Re: beginner tunning 749

Before go to deep into things there are a couple of options you might want to look into before you start, first if your going to stay with the 749 ecm you will want to use code59. Basically a bunch of guys got together and modified the GM code and made it much better and easier to use. Only downfall I find is it takes a little bit of know how to setup a proper bin since the starter bins are all based off of turboed v6's.

Another option is EBL from http://www.dynamicefi.com/ looks to be based off of our V8's, you would be able to run your emision equipment if you need it and I believe it has a learn function which would make life lot easier. Plus I think it's cheap and you would get lot of help from this forum.

Lastly you could go with the new Holley HP EFI, it's definitely more expensive then the other two options but looks like it would be easier to use and has a learn function also. This is something I might look into the future since I'am kind of sick of messing with GM tables and spending time manually hashing out fuel tables plus converting over to SFI might be nice. Here is a link to a guy that's going to give it a try, I'll see how it works out for him before I decide to swap over https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/dfi-...ey-hp-efi.html

If you do decide to stick with the code59 I can probably help you with a starter bin but I'll definitely need to know more about your combo.

This is what you will need for running code59:

Download TunerPro5 here http://www.tunerpro.net/beta/tpbeta.htm

You will need these files for your tunerpro5, one is for your scantool and the other is for modifying your bin.
http://www.code59.org/index.php?opti...=7138&catid=13
http://www.code59.org/index.php?opti...=7193&catid=13

Use this for a base for your starter bin but will be needed to be modified for your V8 car http://www.code59.org/index.php?opti...=1925&catid=10

I can send you my bin also but it was far from perfict, never had the time to work on it much.

Re: beginner tunning 749

Oh yeah forgot to add I'am running Autometer wideband also, I find it works fine but datalogging with it shows a difference of .2 AFR between my dash and what my laptop shows. I created a custom table in the bin to make the laptop match what the dash shows now, hopefully it's the right number lol.
