Unable to get started with S_AUJP_V4
ok, so I'm at a loss...I'm trying to convert over to the S_AUJPv4 rom and am not having much luck. Recently did a top end rebuild and cam replacement on my 305 in my 85 iroc thats been converted to speed density. I have the a tuned bin based off of AUJP and Super_8dm2.ecu that works great, but would like to take advantage of the extended VE tables in S_AUJP since the auto is shifting now a little past 5600rpm and I'm hitting the end of the tables very abruptly.
Here's what i've done so far to try to make this work:
Prep work:
Downloaded the S_AUJP_V4_1026.zip from moates site (http://www.moates.net/files.php -> Custom modified bins)
Using Tunerpro RT 5.0 Pointed it to the 8D_SAUJP_V4a.xdf file for the definition in the zip
Corrected the VE Upper Table Extended to 6400RPM Address to 0x9A0 per multiple posts on the site
Corrected the missing negative values in the appropriate table definitions
Saved my definition as 8D_SAUJP_V4a_FIXED.xdf (anybody want this? or is there already a fixed one uploaded somewhere?)
Changes to the bin:
For Scalars:
Change Cylinder volume for my 305 (623.32 CC/Cyl)
Change Injector flow rate to 30 lb/hr to match my injectors (yes, i know these are too large for this application, topic for a different discussion)
For the flags:
Disabled VATS flag (Forgot to do this initially, resulted in crank crank crank nothing)
Checked Use Z69 Extended VE Table
Tables:
Copied and pasted my VE Lower Table in from my working bin
Translated my VE Upper table into the VE Table Extended to 6400, extrapolating and smoothing out the gaps
pasted in my spark tables
Burned the chip with my Autoprom box.
OK...so when I try to start the car, it kind of wants to fire , but not really. Doesn't want to run on its own. If I turn it over and open the throttle half way, it'll start and kind of want to run at 2000 - 2500 rpms, but seems rich. As soon as a let off the throttle, it settles down, sputters and dies.
So what am I missing here? Should I have to completely retune my lower VE table for S_AUJPV4 from what was running fine before with ~128 BLMS or is there something else I need to look at, change? As soon as I put my tuned chip pack in based off of AUJP / super_8dm2, car starts and idles great.
Thanks!

The spark tables may not be what you motor needs as well as some other settings.
Do a compare against your original bin and see where there are differences. Something may jump out at you that was missed or needs to be copied over.
Distributor base setting, injector scalar for the startup (there was just a thread on this recently), IAC park position, etc.

SAUJPv4 1026 works perfectly with TunerproRTv5. I have run this combination on 2 cars within the last few months, no problems. The version of the modified Bin is unrelated to the version number of TunerproRT.

Yes, i saw the https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/diy-...lood-cold.html post and played with this a little bit but didn't make any difference.
Timing tables are copied over from my tune, so they should be right (they honestly aren't much different than the stock AUJP tune except I run ~25 timing 100 map.
Not sure what to check for the IAC settings, S_AUJP has quite a few IAC setting to mess with, but even if I hold the throttle slightly open, the car will not idle.
Still at a loss...

Re: Unable to get started with S_AUJP_V4
Ok, weirdest thing...got this to work just fine with the above steps.
It was kinda sorta related to the IAC, but not exactly, i don't know how to describe:
I was driving the car the other day on my working tune with a new upper rpm fuel cut point (6100 rpms), when it died and wouldn't restart after slowing to a light, this after I tested how well the car pulled to 6 grand a couple lights/miles back. Turns out the original factory HEI Module died. Replaced it today and tried to start the motor, but it was acting exactly like it was with the S_AUJP tune, except with MY chip that was just previously working fine: would fire but not want to idle, but would hold revs with throttle.
I adjusted the idle set screw and my tune was fine. Switched out to my S_AUJP chip, and voila, it work. So not quit sure what happened, but a happy accident non of the less.
now i'm popping hei modules, but that a subject for a new post after I do some research (grounding issue maybe?)

Iridium,
I am about to start my luck at this with starting with the same file you used. JaysZ28 recommended it to me. Any ins or outs with it that you can think of to make my transition easier into the tuning realm.
Thanks
Bill

I thought that SAUJP was for 350 cu in motors only? Isn't AUJP broadcast code for a 350 tpi?

Re: Unable to get started with S_AUJP_V4
it was originally for the 350, but it can be used for any size motor by changing the cylinder displacement.
