Getting started in programming, emulating and datalogging
Ok guys I bought the AutoProm, the G1 kit and now im completely confused. I installed the Prom chip onto the G1 unit, but how do I get the stock program off of it? I tried getting the ALDL to work with zero success. Not entirely sure where to start with anything to be honest. I tried reading up on everything but there is nothing on specifically how to get this hardware working. I understand because people are using different tuning or editing programs this could be difficult. SO here is what I have, my car is a 1991 chevy camaro RS 3.1L. It has the '7730 ecm. I have the AutoProm and I am using tunerpro RT. It has the ALDL cable the ribbon cable and everything for emulating. Once I figure all this out and get a .bin I want to use how do I install the new chip in the computer, or can I just put it in the zif socket(?) from the G1 kit and go? Everything I have read tells you where to start tuning and such nothing tells you how to get it setup. I have figured out that I need a stock .bin, a .xdf and a .ads or .adx. Thanks you guys in advance.

I'll try to help some, but I'm a newbie too. Some of the things I learned. Moates will have your bin, xdf, and ads files, To use the ALDL function the key has to be turned to ON ( cable plugged into the ALDL port/autoprom ) to initiate in Tunerpro. To emulate, NO chip in the autoprom! Make sure your switches are in the right positions on the back of the autoprom. Read the " Come in for a free tune " , links and sticky's if your not sure where to start. It IS frustrating, especially for myself, as I knew nothing about EFI. From lurking here, and FSC I've learned alittle, but at this point I've been working almost a year on it in my offtime. Working 6 days a week, offtime is at a premium. Myself, I'm going back to carb, I'd rather drive it than look at it. Maybe after a break I'll give it another try. There's some VERY smart Guys here, good luck to 'ya.
