Shopping for widebandand guage setup.

I'd like to make the change from the stock GM narrow band O2 sensor to a wideband system. I would prefer to datalog the O2 readings as part of a general datalog season, so I can see relationships of all the other ECM events more easily. I don't feel the need to record it separately from other datastreams. One caveat if that I would like have an A-pillar mounted digital gauge as well.

I'd like some advice on what hardware that this august body of forum members would suggest to accomplished the goal with minimum parts.

I'm using a 730ECM, a Prominator chip set. and Tunerpro RT. (V4) I did notice that V4 does have some wideband monitoring capability that is currently unused by me.
I'm not after changing over USB type systems (such as Tunerpro V5) as that defeats the old parallel/series Laptop I need to use use for working with the Prominator. It all works well, and is integrated together successfully so far. I want to keep it that way

I'm presuming a new sensor, some cables, gauge and a way to split the signal to both ECM and gauge, so I anticipate an interface of some sort to be permanently mounted out of site.

Your thoughts towards parts or a particular kit / source would be most appreciated.

Re: Shopping for widebandand guage setup.

I would look at the SLC_DIY or SLC_Pure Plus from 14point7.com. They have a whole slew of features that you won't see on other WBO2 controllers in the same price range or more.

To integrate the WBO2 signal to the datastream, you would need to connect it to a currently unused input and set the bin and ads to use it. This will depend on what code you are using as to how easy it will be.

My apologizes for not mentioning that I am using a $8d mask on a 7730 Speed Density system.

TP V5 works with serial stuff as well...

you would need WinXP SP3 at a minimum for OS though.

Thanks for the update, but for monetary reasons,I have no intention of buying a new laptop, just for the purposes of having to change my operating system. I'm really after wideband ability within the frame work of what I already own, But am appreciative of your thoughts..

Re: Shopping for widebandand guage setup.

I believe I used V5 with XP SP1 at one point, but haven't tried it on any older OSs.

Anyway...

I believe there are ways with $8D to integrate the WBO2 signal. I know some people with some masks can use the EGR pintle position input to watch the WBO2 signal with some editing of the ADS/ADX, not sure if this applies to $8D though. If this isn't an option there should be a patch available for it, but I can't say for sure that there is, since I haven't used a stock $8D bin.

Another option is switching to S_AUJP, which is $8D based, but is set-up to log a WBO2, along with a couple other enhancements over what the stock $8D can do.

Shooter, My apologizes to you for not mentioning specifically that I use S_AUJP. That's how came into knowing that there were wideband band monitor abilities within, having spotted them in the monitor lists.

The key is to minimize, getting only the parts I truly need. I'm in consideration of an Innovative LC-1, and a gauge to match a digital dash installed. The LM-1 looks like overkill as I prefer to observe my info at a table not distracted by the screen while driving. It's kind of why I decided against getting the Tunerview2, as I don't want a major distraction while driving, but still want to keep data info collection integrated under "one roof".

If wide band is unavailable in the S-AUJP and Tunerpro Rt v4, what are you guys using as alternatives?

I'm certain others here that "been there-did that" and hope to learn from their trials and errors. Most all of us have stories about how NOT to do things, and they can have valuable lessons as well. I know there are plenty of ideas that must exist, and hope to tap into the amazing resource that this forum offers.

Personally, you (and many others) have helped me before. I'm most appreciative of everyone's responses.

Re: Shopping for widebandand guage setup.

Ahh, using S_AUJP makes this much easier.

Yes, the WBO2 logging can be done using V4.

The signal on the datastream is just like any of the other data bits, like RPM, and MAP sensor, etc. It is the ADS/ADX file that takes what the ALDL is spitting out and translates it in to what read on the screen.

I have used S_AUJP with WBO2 and V4.

Re: Shopping for widebandand guage setup.

i use the Zeitronix ZT2 with S_AUJP_V4 to log with.
i think i used MAP 2 as the wideband input.
i had TunerPro reading very close to what the ZT software showed for the AFR, but had to do a format and didn't make a backup copy of the TP def file and im back to square 1.

you can get a gage or a LCD display with the ZT2.

the ZT2 is the only one i've used, so i don't know if one of the other wideband O2 systems work better or are easier to setup with TP than the Zeitronix.

i do have a problem using the Zeitronix software to log the WB. i don't know if its my controller or my car. the RPM is very erratic, i think adding a capacitor to the tach wire will fix the problem.
the problem isn't there in TunerPro.

Re: Shopping for widebandand guage setup.

I've been running an A pillar gauge for awhile now and really like having it.
The WB is an LC-1 which is one of the best deals for a WB from what I've seen.
The gauge I use is pretty cool too and costs less than most out there.

Its got digital and the sweep indicator on it. It also does a power voltage check indication every so often too.
http://prosportgauges.com/digital-ai...olt-gauge.aspx
Its worth a look, I'm very happy with the setup.

Confirming the scale factors between the gauge and the ECM matching is the only part that is outside the normal setup in the S_AUJP but is easily corrected using the "raw" setting and making the scales match.
The gauge input is 0-5V for 10-20 AFR where the the regular WB output is 0-5V for 7.xx to 22.xx AFR.
I can help you with that end if needed.
Jp

Re: Shopping for widebandand guage setup.

Thanks for the source info JP. I've headed to the site, Great price for the features.

Cosmetic stumbling block, I see a blue unit and all my current gauges are red. I sent them an email to see if a red unit could be assembled.

Re: Shopping for widebandand guage setup.

I wanted red too but it wasn't available then.
Hopefully they can do it for you.
I put their EGT on my pillar too. Both gauges black out when they are off so they look good. The EGT is real bright at night but there is an alternate wire so you can change to amber backlight instead of the white.

Re: Shopping for widebandand guage setup.

I now have a wideband kit coming from Glowshift using a Bosch 4.9 sensor and will be looking for help in setting up the system to recognize the data stream.

Any help will be appreciated.
