another datalog problem thread(S_AUJPV4)

i really hate to post if i can search first. but i think this time i cannot find the answer. i need to ask if im configuring everything right before i melt something.

7730 running saujpv4 and saujpv4.adx
tested ecm by paperclip method, flashes code 12 only
changed ports from 3 to 8 and set latency to 1, no luck
preferences set to corresponding port setting.
restart lappy and TP and test connection via TP, says its functional, ect.
lappy with win 7 and even configured to run in XP(SP3) mode, no luck
aldl connections; orange data at M and E, ground at A, and CEL enable at B

does it seem like im missing something? JP is walking me thru when he has the time. is there a sticky for this type of problem ive overlooked? TIA hope to have this POS on the road soon lol

Re: another datalog problem thread(S_AUJPV4)

Any $8D definitions work with the S_AUJP and TP V4.
Its still the $8D datastream, You just won't see the extras until added.
Grab the one from the TP site and try it and see if it connects.
Sounds like you have everything right.

Re: another datalog problem thread(S_AUJPV4)

At key-on, engine-off, measure the voltage on the ALDL connector pin M (to pin A). Should be 5 volts. Not long ago a fellow here was pulling his hair out trying to connect. Ended up the ECM was bad. Pin M was showing a lower then correct voltage.

Re: another datalog problem thread(S_AUJPV4)

If it's of any help, I've been previously informed that data logs from TP V4 will not play on V5. Sounds like you haven't got quite that far yet. Apparently the .ADX vs .ADS files are not the same, and are not interchangeable between V4 and V5.

Re: another datalog problem thread(S_AUJPV4)

ok i got it to work, i used the import ads feature for the saujpv4.ads. it doesnt have all of JPs nifty guages and dash layouts though. since ive been using winaldl im not all that familiar with tp either. im used to seeing the tables right on the screen so now i need to search for them lol. thanks everyone!

Holy Cow ! You mean I might have actually helped someone instead of needing to get bailed out? (or balled out) That's a first!

Congratulations on your success.

Dave
