afr spikes lean during normal driving. *fixed sorta*

hello again

during normal driving im having issues with the car bucking. if im driving at a constant speed the afr's spike up really high, yesterday it even had some lean backfires. i have a datalog here if someone wants to take a look. tune is rough, until i can get the formula file working its a slow process getting numbers where they should be. seems to run just fine if i dont stay at a constant speed too long. thanks!

*edit*
7730 s_aujpv4

ive disabled highway mode and the lean spike/surging is gone. until i get the VE table where it needs to be, its going to stay that way. thanks

There is a way to command what AFR you want to be at when in Highway mode.

I'm also using a a730 ans S_AUJP_v4.
Key in on "Optional Mode" and you should find it, or do a search in your program for anything with the word "Highway." One of the entries will let you play with AFR ratios.

There is also Hyway SA settings too.
Best to keep out of hyway settings until the main running is good.
Then you'll like to see the 15.5-16.2 AFR while cruising at 70 MPH.

Thanks JP, you answered an unasked question as to what range is reasonable for highway mode to exist. I would anticipate a higher AFR at lower KPA, and lower AFR with higher loads?

i found the table for commanded highway AFR, it was set at 15.5 and i lowered it to 14.7 and it still pulled too much fuel. i have to get my VE tables close before i can enable it again. im still trying to figure out why my WBO2 is reading almost 1.5 points off from the output in TPV5. at 14.7 its right on but if the controller is reading more/less the reading in TP is still off. example, 12.5:1 at the controller and 11.0:1 via TP. i dont know how to adjust the linear readouts to match one another.

The issue might be how the program is interpreting the wide band info. When I set up my wideband stuff about a month ago, I followed JP's advice. There was a couple of choices I could make using S_AUJP_V4 for a few different types/brands of Wideband O2 sniffers.

It had to do with min/max values from the Sniffer and the correlating range that they would be reported at. It kind of maps the voltage to a AFR value.

i have the SLC PP2 WBO2 and its operating range is (0-5V) 10-20 AFR. i set the "raw" bit and used X*0.05898+7.350000 in the conversion. the ranges are set at 10 and 20. like i said before, it matches the pp2 controller at 14.7 but above or below that its way off. i checked my grounds and even moved them to a better spot with the same results.

Re: afr spikes lean during normal driving. *fixed sorta*

If your range is set for 10-20 AFR then the conversion is incorrect.
Your + number should be 10, not 7.35
10 AFR to 20 AFR = 10 AFR range.
10 AFR / 255 steps or counts = 0.0392 +10.00 base value for a conversion formula
should be spot on with that.

Be sure that is what your WB controller is outputting.
