Burnining a chip for 350 TBI

Im hoping for some advice on where to start when I begin burning my own chip with the Moates products I have ordered today. I

I have a 91 RS that I put a vortec 350 in. I bought the intake and throttle body on craigs list. The throttle body is a larger unit than the one from the 305 it probably came from a big block truck because that what I had to order gaskets for when I was putting it back on the intake after installing the motor It came with a ECM programed by Turbo City for a 350 vortec in a pickup.

The issue I have is the car runs fine with the 305 ECM in it except for a nasty dead spot when I punch it. When I put the Turbo city ECM in I dont have the dead spot anymore but the the car idels to fast and runs too rich.

Any advise is appreciated and thank you for your time.

305 ECU I presume has the AE values for a 305. Needs more AE.

TurboCity ECU is an unknown. If it idles too fast could be commanded RPM for idle too high? Rich means VE tables need work. Only diff between truck and F body is weight. That may affect spark. Lighter vehicle can handle more SA.

Datalog and see what sensors are reporting.

Thank you for your advice. I have not recieved my APU1 yet, it should be here in a day or two. It looks complicated and am not sure how well I will be able to learn how to use the thing. It will be good to have a idea where to start.

Could try to contact Turbo city and ask them what FP they used.

Can you read the chip that is in the TC ECU? You may need to change the BPC to start and add a lot more AE due to the intake and TB.

Re: Burnining a chip for 350 TBI

I have been reading the Tuner Pro help menus alot and this is much more complex than I thought it would be. I have been able to get some data from stock and Turbo City chips but I am not sure what I am looking at. I have found files that match the boxcode/ECM number of the computer in the car at the Tuner Pro website and have managed to get it into my my software so I can look at it. I have not tried any data logging yet. I will have to learn alot basic tunning concepts to be able to use any of this and it will take time but I have to get this car running now because its my sons car and I want my diesel truck back. What I would like to do at this point is find a shop that uses this software to tune cars and hire them to program a chip. If there are bugs to workout later hopefully I will be able to data log info for them and work things out via email

I remember looking at the stock TBI computer datalogs and thinking, no way.

I then came across some treads of people sucessfully using the EBL flash thas was around for many years already. Thats what I ended up with.

Plug and play, learns the VE tables and it takes less then a second to load the calibration it in the EBL upgraded computer.

Unlikely you will find a shop. Most shops are dealing with the newer high perf cars. Our cars are somewhat dinosaurs. Brian at tbichips.com still does it. That is about it.

Re: Burnining a chip for 350 TBI

Thanks for the tips I apreciate everyone taking the time to help me out. Im an even older dinosaur than the car Im working on. I have had over a dozen different camaros in my life. This one is a father son project and is the newest one to ever be in my driveway my son laughs at me when I call it a new car cause its older than him.
