G2 adapter cover?
G2 adapter cover?
I have a 7747 with Moates G2 adapter and zif socket. It works, but I've been keeping the whole ECM in a box in place of my center console for years. I'd like to get my center console back, but I don't know what to do about the big hole in my ECM with a chip sticking out. Has anyone dreamed up a slick way to make this setup a little more durable so it can be out in the elements? I was hoping I'd see some sort of sheet metal wart for sale on the Moates site, but I don't think it's there. I don't really have the ability to fab something myself that wouldn't look terrible.

Re: G2 adapter cover?
You could ditch the ZIF socket and the cover should fit. There is also an older Caddy ECM that has a bubble lid. Came with the TBI engines.

But even if you remove the Zif socket, if you followed the instructions and soldered in a Dip Socket then plugged the G2 in and add a chip the cover still hits the EEPROM. I solder the G2 directly to board, use a ZIF socket for tuning and then when done remove ZIF socket and install chip and cover clears.
