MAF table & scaler issues

89 IROC 165 $6E mask. You can check my sig for stats. It's not a radical combo but I do have a descreened and definned MAF.

I have been tuning first low end and now high end of the maf flow tables. I am really close to having a good tune with blms 128+/- 2 or so. Wide band showing low & mid 14's. But I have had to do a lot of scaler changes. Each scaler is up 4-6 from apyp stock. I keep having to raise them to get the high end of each table to alow me to raise the last value. It just dawned on me that I am having to enrichen across the board and wondered if I am missing something. My injecotrs are stock 5.7 and my IC is set @ 22.36. I am running ~42PSI with the vacuum hooked up.

Is it normal to have to change the scalers so much to get the fueling in line? And what's the deal with the maf tables not allowing me to change the last one or two values unless I jack the scaler up?

Any thoughts will be appreciated.

Something about the tables having limits in the code from what i remember. Its ok to keep increasing scalars so the top values in table dont hit their limits. Surprised your combo needs such radical changes but give it what it needs. Not all combos take similar tunes even with maf thats suppose to read airflow and adjust

I hear you on the "give it what it wants" point. And I am having success. It's just with the stock injectors I don't really know what "size" they are. I believe they are rated at 21# @ 43PSI and I am running more pressure (@wot) so the 22.36 IC should be in the ball park. I shyed away from tweeking the IC but it seems I am (or was) lean across the board so maybe an IC change would have been more appropriate. Especially if changing the scalers too much will cause other issues down the line.

Some of the MAF changes may have become necessary due to my "improvements" to the MAF meter. So I didn't hesitate to change them but in the end it seemed like a lot of change.

Re: MAF table & scaler issues

The changes to the MAF tables are due to the changes you made to the sensor. The reason you can't change the last value in the MAF table until the scalar is changed, is that the value is already at the max of 255 as the raw value.

Recall that the value you see is Tuner Pro is scaled. See the '7165 section of chapter 5 in the Tuning Guide Book sticky. A ton of good info there on how the MAF ECMs work.

IIRC, the MAF Miscellanea thread pulls together many topics and scattered threads.
