will a piggyback chip work if original prom is no good
i have a 91 z28 camaro 350 tpi had a 305 originally and when i put in a stage 2 chip my car stopped running and i think i fryed the ecm so i replaced the ecm but the car will still not run with the original chip,original chip and piggay back stage2 corvette chip or aujp chip.it will crank it has 60 psi fuel pressure before the rails spark is there.also checked injectors with noid light they are flashing like crazy and also set the timing again from scratch,tdc then dropped the dizzy back in

Yes, if there is a problem with the PROM itself, using a MEMCAL adapter to use a new (EE)PROM, will work, provided the Limp Home, Redundant Fuel and knock filter is still ok. Though some cars have been known to run without a MEMCAL attached to the adapter and just using a PROM.

shouldn't be... as the guy above stated so long as the limp home portion didn't get fried as well the car should still run fine, providing your new override chip works the way it's supposed to. the limp home only kicks in if something goes wrong with the chip in use, so if the chip is bad it defaults to limp home to get you home or to a shop, if it got fried as well then when the ship fails, or isn't configured properly the car will just fail to run and you won't have the option to drive it to a shop. on the piggy back type adapters like the ones from moates.net the pins for the original chip are not even allow to connect to the computer they are overwritten by the new chip.
