Knock Retard when letting out clutch

I'm running a T56 with a Spec Stage 3 puck clutch and aluminum flywheel and the engagement of the clutch can be pretty violent if not careful. When I am shifting aggressively, I do get slight knock retard of about 1-2* when I let the clutch out, I'm thinking the Knock sensor may be picking up the clutch mating to the flywheel as some sort of audible knock? BLMs are all inline and when cruising along I get no knock retard otherwise.

Did the manual mamcals like AXCN and AXXD come with a different knock module to filter out the noises a manual would make? Like the LT4 module was made to filter out the noise of rocker arms made by LT4 motors. I'm running the Moates GP1 adapter with the stock AUJP memcal piggybacked onto there. Would switching to a stick memcal make a difference?

Thanks.

Re: Knock Retard when letting out clutch

If this is when pulling out or even the 1-2 shift, can increase the MPH & RPM values for allowing retard. These:

Code:
L820A:	FCB	68 	; 850 RPM, IF >= ENAB KNOCK
			; ARG = RPM/12.5
			;
L820B:	FCB	2 ; MPH, IF >= THEN ENAB KNOCK
Note that these are likely one OR the other to enable knock retard.

It sounds like your getting clutch chatter causing feedback to knock sensor d

id you resurface or replace pressure plate, pilot bearing start there insted of trying to play games with computer i've built some serious motors and only seen an issue like this when customer didnt want to do it right

Re: Knock Retard when letting out clutch

Thanks for the advice, I've actually considered that but I don't think this is the case. Driving around town normally and slowly letting out the clutch I get no knock counts. The knock comes when I dump the clutch shifting hard. Even then it's intermittent and doesn't do it all the time. Surprisingly, I get no chatter from the clutch. Smooth engagement (when I get it just right) but this Spec 3 grabs like a **** when you really let it out. Grabs hard enough to chirp 5th gear... lol

RBob, you were right, those two are one OR the other to enable retard. I'm just going to live with it for now since it's more of annoyance than anything else.

Re: Knock Retard when letting out clutch

Yes, understandable. If you really want to see some knock retard pretend it is a seven speed and tap reverse. BTDT (going for sixth on a 5-spd), I try not to do it too often. I also know why GM put a reserve lock out on the T56's...

If you are good on the tune with little to no knock, increase the decay rate of the knock retard SA. Can also decrease the attack rate. This way it doesn't have as much of an affect on performance. But is still there in case of trouble.
