Ostrich 2.0 problems

Have an 85 Vette, did the 870 to 165 ecm swap. Everything went great there. I plug in the Ostrich and run the emulator and the car runs fine. Only problem is, I get a solid SES light, and I can not get my tech 1 or the tech 1A to communicate with the car with the Ostrich in place. I remove the Ostrich and plug the prom back in, I get normal functions back.

?????

Re: Ostrich 2.0 problems

Be sure to set the switches on the Ostrich correctly. You are going from a '32 PROM to a '128 or '256.

Also be sure to disable checksum.

You should...

Disabling checksum, eliminates solid CEL, and some peculiar results while emulating tuning in real time).

If all you do is load a completely new tune to the Ostrich, without emulating, disabling checksum will have no effect, but to emulate, it will.

I get the solid CEL if I am emulating or if I have loaded the bin file to the Ostrich. One question, how do I verify that the Ostrich is really functioning? Hell, even removing the Ostrich completely and using the PROM on the G1 board, it still runs and gives me the same symptoms.

Re: Ostrich 2.0 problems

At key-on, engine-off, observe the SES/CEL light. It should turn on, blink off, then turn on solid. Can repeat the test after a minimum of 10 seconds of key-off.

Any other reaction from the SES/CEL and there is an issue.

A rapidly flashing SES/CEL is a checksum error. On solid (no blink) and the ECM is not running from the PROM/Ostrich.
