auto prom

So i was thinking of getting the auto prom from moates.net
http://www.moates.net/apu1-autoprom-...b-version.html

i am doing an engine swap from a 305 to a 327, but keeping my original TBI, sensors, distributor, etc. i have a 1992 camaro. I cannot get datalogging to work on TunerPro RT with a normal USB ALDL cable from aldlcable.com.
My question is, if i get the autoprom will all its features work with no problems with tunerpro RT? i want to be able to tune (emulate) and datalog at the same time and in the same program.

Thanks

Re: auto prom

It will do absolutley everything you need to do and more.

Without any problems and new to tuning? Hell No !!

It took me 2 years of reading here and calling Moates to guide me step by step just to have a basic working knowledge of its abilities and how to set it up to work with MY specific application.

It is a nice tool to have though if you plan on keeping your car for awhile. If you are going to do a mail order tune and only wish to data log I do beleive there are cheaper and simpler setups.

Re: auto prom

The only issue I`ve found with teh Auto Prom is that when using certain code, I`ll mention $58 to be specific, that emulating and datalogging can be an issue without first patching the bin, to take care of that. I think it also affected $8F as well.

When using my Ostrich and ALDL Xtreme (ALDU1) though, there were no issues.

Find out what code you will be using first, and see if there are any known issues when using the Auto Prom.

I'm not saying that it's not a product worth purchasing, because it's great, I have one and use it frequently, I also have 3 Ostriches, and many other Moates items, that I also use.

Re: auto prom

Cable issues are common when first getting started with TunerPro, but they can always be worked out. Except once I did get a bad cable from ALDLcables.com... finally got a replacement and it worked first shot.

TunerPro has preferences that need to be set correctly, with AutoProm it will find it when started.

Emulating, data logging at the same time and setting up your ADX/XDF file for data tracing is just a sweet tuning setup. If your doing just one car the only better option would be Dynamic EBL.
