how to save existing chip data?

Hi I am new to programing my own chips so bare with me I am trying to learn. I bought the moates package with the g2 adaptor and everything I need to burn and read my ecm. I already had a chip burned for my 305 to 350 swap now I have a 400 SBC but I used the same cam out of my 350 so my chip that I had burned before is pretty close but needs tweeking. How to I pull all the information off my chip and save it so I can tweek it and use the ostrich to play with the program and tune my car live? I am using tunerpro rt and I have the correct .ads and .xdf files and my computer is reading the ecm just fine. Again I am new trying to learn so please any help would be great. Speek in lamons terms please

Need a PROM reader/burner. You mention having "everything I need to burn and read," this should include the Burn1 unit from Moates.

Yes I do have that. But I just want to read the chip I have and save it in a file if I can and then plug my ostrich into my ecm and tune live on the saved file of the chip. Is that possible or am I just being stupid?

Re: how to save existing chip data?

Put the existing chip into the burner, open the Flash and Burn software or open TunerPro RT and go to Tools > Hardware Utilities > Moates PROM I/O then click "Read Chip" which load the contents on the chip to the buffered reader then click save buffer to file. Be sure to set the chip to the proper option in the I/O menu.

Re: how to save existing chip data?

Need to carefully remove the chip from the carrier. Then use the Burn1 to read it. If using the stock '8746 ECM the chip will be a 2732a device. Set up the buffers for that chip, read it via Tuner Pro/RT, and save it.

Note that when you burn the '512 chips, you will need to set up the buffer and chip write area.
