Newbie PROM Tuning Question - Doing the Basics

I have searched and read quite a bit in the DIY PROM area on the site. There is a lot of great info here but trying to sort some basics out can be difficult for people looking to get involved like me and many of the basic threads are very old.

What are the bare minimum things I would need for simply changing constants like fuel inj sizes, coolant temps, AIR on or off, EGR, etc. I plan to get into datalogging in the future but would like to weigh my options on the cost of getting a chip for very basic stuff (need a 24lb inj change) or just investing in the minimal equipment.

Thanks for any and all help and hopefully others can find it useful too.

Re: Newbie PROM Tuning Question - Doing the Basics

it doesn't really matter what you want to tune in the program. you need the same hardware and software to change fan turn on temp as to down load a completely different mask from a different type of car. not to confuse, there's very few programs that can be used in one type of ecm.

I'venbeen out of it a while but autoprom used to be a good starting point if you have nothin to start wwith. but I don't have it, so you'd need to research it

I just made a guide: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/diy-...ng-tuning.html
I've been getting many many questions in PM about this sort of stuff so I made a handholding guide for SuperNoobs.
