bin questions

I have an 1986 caprice with a 4.3 v6 tbi. I am just starting out on tuning and cant for the life of me figure which bin file to use. I am using TunerPro if that makes any difference. thanks for the help in advance.

Re: bin questions

Stryder67, I am also new to tuning and being an old school guy also trying to get the hang of this stuff. Although I don't fully understand this yet, from my readings, you can download the bin from your PROM and hack that OR find a bin online.

I have a '92 Chevy 4x4 S-10 with 4.3L V6 TBI and 700R4 trans. My 4.3L is slightly modified with .020 overbore, flat top pistons, marine version cam with roller rockers, Vortec heads, Edelbrock intake with carb-to-TBI adapter, and headers.

I'm going to subscribe to your thread so hopefully we can learn together.

Re: bin questions

so I've been doing more research and the ecm in my caprice is a 1227137. still cant find a bin file for that particular ecm yet. its an lb4 engine if that helps anymore. if anyone has a link for a website for this ecm bin file it would be greatly appreciated.

57 Handyman that S-10 sounds like she'd be a good running little v6 when you get her all dialed in. my 4.3 doesn't have hardly anything done to it yet. was kinda waiting to get the hang of the tuning thing and go from there. I have ported the heads that are on it. while i had them off i did a valve job and got LS1 valve springs installed. kept the stock rockers on for now. rear end has 3.73 and will soon be putting in a 700r4 in place of the thm-200c.

Re: bin questions

No real support for that ecm, you might email tunercat to see if they have a .bin or do a read sounds like it might be a 2732 prom.

Re: bin questions

yes it does have a 2732 prom and if tunercat does not have a bin for this particular ecm I can just download the bin from my PROM? Then modify it from there?

Re: bin questions

You can do a read after you remove the prom from the carrier. You might consider going with a 747 ecm $42 mask.

Re: bin questions

would going to a 747 ecm be a just a plug and play deal? No modifications? and if so which PROM adapter would I buy for it. Sorry for all the questions but its something that I want to know about and the other articles I've read are kinda vague when it gets into the actual set up. Probably because I have a car no one messes with...

Re: bin questions

You can still get 2732 proms so it depends on your burner.
If your using moates burn 2 you need a g2 to be able to use a Sst27sf512 eeprom.
You would need a pinout of your ecm to see if the 747 is a plug and play or if you need to repin.
