TCC control on 8D - questions
TCC control on 8D - questions
So I want to control something to activate and deactivate solely with vehicle speed.
Trying to determine what the ECM sends out on the Tan/Black wire at terminal location GF6. Is it a ground or a +12V?
Also, the 8D, there's a bunch of stuff for controlling the TCC. How do I set the parameters in order to trigger the TCC control based only on speed?
Basically in a nutshell what I"m looking to do is have the TCC output energize above 20 mph and de-energize below 20 mph, regardless of any other input.

Re: TCC control on 8D - questions
Thanks Tom. Actually this wouldn't be controlling the TCC. My converter isn't being driven off the ECM. It's running stand alone.
This circuit I'm going to generate will be driving something else. So, yeah, I just want an ECM-driven on/off switch that's based solely on vehicle speed... switch off when less than 20mph, switch on when greater than 20 mph.

Re: TCC control on 8D - questions
The TCC output on F6 provides a ground. Open when not activated. Dependent of the 4th gear switch input will need to use the 2/3 gear scalars/tables or the 4th gear tables.
Be sure to set up the coast release parameters.
Need to use 100% in the TPS vs MPH tables for no output. Then go to 0% to activate the output.
RBob.

Rbob, thanks.
In Tunerpro, there's a parameter that says "DON'T Allow Unlock if MPH >="... "DON'T" is actually capitalized. Seems like this is an overriding parameter... so if I set it to 20 mph, seems it'll never unlock above 20 mph (which is exactly what I want). The XDF notes say it won't unlock regardless of throttle position above the selected mph.

Could also use the forced lock parameter:
L831D: FCB 76 ; UNLOCK PREVENTION THRESH, (76 MPH)
Note that some other parameters are likely needed to be set up. Such as the engine CTS to allow lockup.

Re: TCC control on 8D - questions
Understood, thanks. Yeah I think that's the same parameter as what I found regarding the unlock prevention speed threshold.
Tunerpro has far more TCC parameters then Tunercat. I'll have to go through them all.

Re: TCC control on 8D - questions
Got it dialed in. It's now doing exactly what I want
So basically what's going on is I just installed a Gear Vendors unit and I'm using my EFI ECM to do what their controller unit does. Figured I'd have one less electrical subsystem in the car for a cleaner installation.

And for the record, a GV with a TH700R4 is an awesome combination... Having 8 speeds available at the push of a button? Can't beat it...
