I currently have an Innovate LC-2 O2 wideband installed on my TPI Caprice with the EBLP4 Flash system. I bought the wideband so I could do some wideband learns and also to monitor the AFR when driving. In less than 1,000 miles I am on my third sensor. The first one worked for about 500 miles and started acting up, I recalibrated it and it works about 1/4 of the time so I bought a new sensor from Innovate. It is the Bosch 0258017025 Oxygen Sensor LSU 4.9 (17025. it lasted through the calibration and one learn session and started giving an error code that the heater circuit is shorted. The third sensor works about 1/2 of the time. I have heard that the Innovate system is hard on sensors due to overheating them. Wondering if I should get the AEM system? Any thoughts? My AFR at cruise runs close to 14.6 unless I let lean cruise kick in, and under acceleration around 11.5 to 12.5. I have never had any issues with it running overly rich.

One thing it could be is that the sensor is too close to the exhaust ports. It should be at least 3 feet down the pipe(s) from them.

I have it installed right in front of the cat convertor. It is near the end of the Y pipe. What is strange is sometimes it starts reading soon after startup and then will stop after about 10 minutes of driving and other times it will not read at all.

That location is OK. It may be that the controller is bad.

That is what I was thinking. Do you have any experience with the AEM controllers? Amazon has the AEM (30-4110) UEGO Air/Fuel Ratio Gauge on sale for $160.00 right now. How about a recommendation.

Try Zeitronix, a ZT3 if you don't need all the bells and whistles that is on the ZT2. I've thrown some nasty tunes at it while trying to learn and it continues to work perfectly. Check the reviews, I think you'll be happy.

Re: AEM vs Innovate wideband O2
I used an Innovate MTX WB for about five years and replaced the sensor several times. The last sensor replacement did not solve my intermittent problem so about a year ago I replaced the Innovate with a AEM 30-0300. I chose the 30-0300 mainly because of the limited space behind the dash panel where it is located. It works as expected and I have had no problems with it so far.

I can't make a recommendation as I've never used other WB controllers. Best to listen to the posters.

Brian,

I will echo your experience w the ZT-2. In fact, I have had mine since I started tuning my 84 Xfire probably 15yrs ago. And I like the idea of their datalogger.

Re: AEM vs Innovate wideband O2
Thanks all for the recommendations. I decided to try the AEM 30-4100 since it is on sale. It uses the same Bosch sensors as the Innovate I now have so I can try the ones that stopped working and see if they can be used as spares. I will let you all know how it works out.

Re: AEM vs Innovate wideband O2
I purchased the AEM 30-4110. The sensor was DOA when it arrived, but AEM replace it with a phone call. I have the sensor mounted about 20 inches from the exhaust port of the BBC 502 on the same side as the NB O2. Had it about a month or so.

Seems to work pretty well.
