Code 54 sets but cannot find a reason

ECU 1227730

Clear the codes. Turn on Key to Start. Fuel pump runs for 10 seconds. Car starts and drives fine, no issues.

Check codes after and Code 54 set.

Check CSV file from Data log.

Error 54 Low Fuel Pump Voltage "OK" on all samples. No error code indicated.
Fuel Pump Voltage 14..4 volt or above on all samples
Pump Voltage OK, OK on all samples.

No issues with low voltage for the fuel pump indicated in CSV.

I started the car before beginning the log file. The Error code could have been set before starting the log file, but surprised that it didn't show up in the CSV file.

I have had this issue for a while and replaced the Relay. What's the odds of a bad ECU?

Re: Code 54 sets but cannot find a reason

Let me clarify my question. If you follow the troubleshoot guide for that ECU and code (and many other codes) it takes you to a "faulty ECU" Naturally, something you really cannot test for. My ECU is 20 plus years of functioning. At the cost of ECUs today, it's an expensive experiment.

How many times have people actually found the problem was a failed ECU.

Re: Code 54 sets but cannot find a reason

I had the exact same problem about two years ago on a buddys 91 3.1 liter V6. It has the same 7730 ECM as the V8 TPI's. He also messed around with code 54, replaced the pump but 54 still was present. I swapped a used ECM from a donor car and the code was gone. He then bought a used ECM from a vendor here in germany along with a matching Memcal.
