I am chasing weird issue. Been running a 7730 ECM for 25 years. Purchased a second 7730 ECM as a spare. I installed the second ECM as a test to eliminate the ECM as a potential contributor to an issue I am having. It didn't fix the issue, perhaps made it worse. When I pulled out the second ECM, I noticed some odd differences. The Blue one is my original ECM The white one is the spare.
Both ECMS are supposed to be 7730 or so they are labeled.
If you compare the prom socket in the two, the blue one has both pins at the photographed end. The white one is missing one of those pins. Maybe not in use, but why missing one.
If you look at the overhead, you can see that whatever chip is on the board (not removable) is completely different between the two 7730 ECMs
Just a guess now looking at it more, @rbob may know but wonder if the chip cover is missing on the one ecm . Not sure if it’s a heat sink or not. The piece im
referring to is the cover with scan bar in ecm. https://pcmhacking.net/ludis/1227749schematic.html
