OK guys I am about to go to Carb unless I can get this fixed. I have a RICH problem that will not go away. It is so rich it is blowing blue smoke. I have tried to get this corrected with the fuel pressure adjustment. I have had the bulk of the problem at startup can my E-Prom be causing this? Its a Ed Wright custom prom.

ANY IDEAS?

Brian,

If you haven't put a scantool on the motor and done some custom tuning, I can almost guarantee you it is the calibration. No flame of Ed, but it happens whenever somebody does tuning "long distance" and puts in a chip that's "good enough". In just about every case, the tuner will burn a rich chip to be on the safe side. The chip you hav now could be a good beginning but certainly not the end. I got started tuning when I bought a
Turbo City Xfire chip. Idle was very rich. And 100 bin files later, here I am.

I agree with Dominic, the ONLY way you are going to be able to address this problem is inside the eprom. Mechanical methods are band-aid solutions that don't properly fix the problem.

And, as for "custom eproms", you won't be the first that found out that they don't do very much unless you spend the time tuning your engine and burn it yourself.

Ummm, it's not rich if it's blowing -blue- smoke; your engine is burning oil. Check for oil getting sucked past the valve guides or seals, or your engine need to be rebuilt.

actually if it is running really rich it will wash the oil off the cylinder walls thus... blue smoke, do you have the original prom? if so put it back in and see if it cures the problem.

if that is the case you dont want to run it very long if you are
seeing washout of the cylinder walls.
