Do you have the ZIF soldered to the header on the PCB, or is it just a press fit deal? I ask because I still have a couple low-profile ZIF sockets and I am thinking that the low-profile ones would make it so no alterations need to be made to the ECM cover plate with the assembly installed. I might be interested in one of these without a ZIF....... Let me know.

I'm new to this, and am not sure what works with what. Will the same adapter work for the 86-89's that works for the 90-92's? If not are those also available? How much are they?
Hey Craig:
Why is the mem-cal hacked in half?
and - why put the stock PROM on there at all if you are using another one in the ZIF socket?
I am a bit confused - please enlighten me.
Thanks

Hahaha!
Yeah, I only have one stock Memcal, and I had already hacked it in the past. I just put both pieces on there for illustration purposes. Only the 'limp-home' half is needed, that's how I actually use it.
As far as I know this will only work in 1986-1992 TPI setups. This is based on my limited familiarity with other systems. If anyone knows different, let me know.

I just ordered the adapter with pay pal. I have been wanting to burn proms for a while now, but getting one of these things makes it seem just to easy not to do. I hope he still has some of them in stock.

Really, this may not be a bad idea...Craig's adapter isolates the memcal mounted eprom from the circuit, with the "new" eprom controlling things via the adapter. If for some reason Mr Murphy strikes the modded eprom, pull the adapter, pop off the memcal and pop it back in less the adapter..and whaalaa!! Your back on the street. Hell its better than" limping home " Originally posted by Hunter Motorsports

Have to add my Kudos
Thanks Craig it arrived today.
This sure beats the worry factor of having to pry the chip out every time I need to change it.
I recommend to all

Craig got the adapter in last night and burned my first chips today.
Really good idea you had, it fits well and works good.
Now I need to see if they will let me make up a new lid for the computer at work.

Hehe... I work at a circuit board assembly house. I started in the inspection dept doing inspections, mods to boards, and hand solder assembly before moving on to heading the testing dept...(me) Originally posted by Craig Moates

Now I run a Hewlett Packard 3070 series 3 fixture tester. Its real sweet, just set the correct fixture for the board to test, load up the respective software and lock a board on. Does a complete open, short, tolerance, power up in about a minute. It sure makes testing and locating problems a breeze. Anyhow been using your adapter for a couple weeks now. Works great! cheers, Bobp.s. Works fine in my '749 ECM
