Software Ideas???

I have heard of:
TunerCat
Diacom
WinBin software (FREEPROM BIN-ECU Program)
GmePro
Any others??? Anyone of them much better than the other, also since I would like to be able to program/modify PROMS for both TBI & TPI, MAF & SD I would like to make sure I know the software application that will get me the farther before I purchase any of the equipment. TIA

I own some Tunercat stuff, GMEPro, Diacom Plus, Direct Scan, and a few other bits, and still I'm gathering.
If you want to do it all you'll have to own it all.
There are just enough differences that some do more then others, or like GMEPro works on old cheap laptops, as does diacom, so they are cheaper to maintain, and less likely a cheap laptop will get stolen vs an expensive one.

Oh and you'll need a WB to get close.

I've been at this for a longgggg time.
Long time,
It flat makes life easy.
You'll save more in gas then what it costs to built it and the display. At WOT you can blow thru alot of fuel trying to get close, and it makes the AE stuff so easy.

Sounds good to me. Why is it so hard to get a parts kit for the board? The guy doesn't respond. If ya send a check for the parts how do you know (approximately) when you will get the parts?
Thanks,
J

Once you get started you will want all the software you can play with . Each has its own advantage and they all will teach you something , thats why we are all here I guess.

Steve is just doing this as a volunteer thing. You'll get the parts when he gets gets the kit made up. I've waited a little over a month, and some guys have gotten them ina week, if he answered alll the email he gets it would take months to get the parts.

So to be able to do some good capture then modification to the PROMS I should use the setup of Diacom or Direct Scan loaded on the laptop. Plus purchasing the "data" cable to be able to capture the data from the ECM. I should use the setup of Diacom or Direct Scan loaded on the laptop and then Tunercat or GMEPro to make changes to the tables and burn another PROM, right?

That is good news. I was afraid that he wasn't doing it anymore.
Thanks,

Thanks for all the info!!!
Only thing is I can only find web site for the Pocket Programmer, Diacom, & TunerCat. Would anyone happen to have the web sites for GMEPro, Direct Scan and any others??? Also does anyone happen to know why these web sites look so crappy??

To some Web pages are just there as a means of communication, and eye candy is not a concern.

How much do you want to pay for products? To me I'll forgo the eye candy of an expensive web site for 3 cents off on the products pricing.

Eye candy and feature creep are just a waste of money.

"Eye Candy" Well I don't expect a Sony Pictures type web site from every company, however like you said the web site is a means of communicating. What these sloppy web sites communicate to someone like me is a total lack of reinvestment in the way they communicate with their customers. I mean a friggin Tiger Tile background for TunerCat, you've got to admit that's pretty cheezy!!! I thought that SLP and TPIS were bad but these web sites just really surprised me. Maybe its because I have done web design and worked in the field long enough to understand that changing a background or removing it isn't going to make the company go under and that providing useful contact/product is essential since your web site is your "virtual" means of communication. Just my $0.02
