85 to 145

i heard that a stock 85mph speedo can be swapped out for the 145mph speedo with out changing the gear drives on it. i heard it was basically a "plug and play" method.. is this true? if so is there anyone out there with a stock 145mph speedo that fits an 86 camaro?

It is plug and play. Without ever having attempted the swap, I completed it in perhaps an hour and half--and that was really taking my time. All you need do is locate an 86 to 89 Camaro cable-driven speedo and you're set to go. By the way, there are two types of clusters, one with a red line of 5000 (5.0 TPI) and one with a 5500 red line (5.7 TPI).
