85 iroc gauges nonworking
85 iroc gauges nonworking
ok so the gauges in my '85 iroc are dead all except the speedo
the ten amp fuse keeps blowing every time i change it also when i turn on the dashboard lights the door open alarm goes off
so like any good car nut i rip the dashboard apart
no good I cant find anything noticable that may be wrong
no wires twisted together nothing hanging from wires they are all secure in the harneses this must be a common problem because there is another post with the same thing and no responses so I am sure one of you guys has had it happen to you if you could fill us in that would be very helpful
thanx

I've never personally had the problem (yet..) but, I can tell you all the gauges (except the cable driven speedo of course) are powered off the 10a GAUGES fuse.
If you give a look here

You'll see a few other item (depenig on engine code) that are also on that circuit aside from the gauges. One of these could be a culprit
Also, don't rule out a gauge being bad. If the fuse will not blow with the cluster out, remove the gauges and then install them one by one until the fuse does blow. Maybe not the most handy advice but, that's how I'd approach it..
