Finaly fixed my gauges
Finaly fixed my gauges
Ok i finaly fixed my gauge, well actualy bought a new gauge cluster off ebay for 10$. And all of the gauges work except my water temp. While i was instaling the new gauges i must have shorted something and my 10 amp fuse blew so i bought another 10 and i blew again. So went and put a 15 amp fuse and it has been working since.
Craig
I was just looking through the archives and saw your post,, I'm having the same problem! All of my guages are working fine,, except for my water temp guage,,,,so you're saying this one runs off a different fuse then the other guages? I never really thought to check the fuse panel as the other ones are working fine...
Hey, i dont know if there is a seperate gauge for the water temp i was just saying all of the gauges but the water temp gauge work. I have no idea why the water temp doesnt but if i figure it out all post it on here.
Thnx for your input or if anyone knows how to fix the water temp gauge please post it here thnx Craig.
By the way the water gauge is all the way up. Past the red spot! Thnx again .

What kind of car is this?
With the temp. gauge pegged out, it seems there is a short in the wire coming off the temp. sensor, or the temp sensor is bad itself. If it is a V8, then the temp sensor is going to be between the 1 and 3 cylinders on the head. Find it and trace the wire back. If all looks good, try replacing the sensor, not that expensive.
This will be a good time to flush your cooling system, because when you take the sensor out, alot of coolant will come with it.
I would recommend taking this sensor to the parts store with you, as they have been known to be mixed around, match it up with the one you have, it will save you a trip.
Any other Q's, feel free to ask. Let us know how it goes.

I have a quick question which is kinda related to this..
I have the digital dash option in my car w/350 tpi, and the temp gauge isn't working either...I know that the wire coming off of the temp semsor (between 1-3 cyl's) is cut. where in the hell does this wire go to? i know that if i reconnect it, it'll work because it did before...thanks for any help,
lata.

Ok so i got the new sending unit at the auto parts yesterday,,,,got it in alright,, hooked up the lonely green wire with the blade connector that I found,,,,and still nothing,,,well I shouldn't say nothing,,,,when i turn the key now the needle takes a little fit then goes back down to zero and stays there, until of course the cars' shut off for like 10 mins or so then it decides to jump up to half.......electronics has to be the most fustrating aspect of working on cars!
