Squished white TPS wire; need to replace 3 1/2" section--what kind of wire?

When I put the pass side VC back on, I smashed the white TPS wire between the VC and the cylinder head. I'm not sure if the wire if actually damaged, but from looking at it, it is obvious that the it was squished. I'd hate to have a problem arise from something that I know about.

What kind of wire do I use to replace the messed up section (about 3 1/2" long). Am I correct in assuming that I should solder the new section in rather than crimp it or does it matter?

If there isn't an actual break in the wire (no cut strands, just frayed insulation) you should be able to get away with wrapping it with electrical tape.

But, if you're like me and like a nice clean installation, you have two other choices. You can cut the wire in the middle, slip a long piece of shrink tubing over it, solder it back together and shrink it (they make colored shrink tubing so you can maintain the correct wire color).

Or you can go ahead and do what you say and replace the section. It's always best to solder ECM wires to ensure good connections. It's just standard automotive 16 gauge multi-stranded wire. I always forget the exact strand count, but just make sure it's not <12.

I'm going to replace the section because of the way it was crushed: the wire was caught near the corner of the VC and head so it was actually squished in two places. I like the white heat shrink wrap idea, though. Thanks, Jza. I'm driving it for the first time in seven months tomorrow or Sunday!!

I have to wait until Tuesday or Wednesday because I need wire looms for the plug wires. Of all the stupid things to forget...
