Anyway, my computer is done for. I don't really want to pay the money for a new one, so I was wondering if any computer from a third gen will work, or is it specific to engine size, fuel system, transmission, etc?

You have to have the P/N and you have to save the chip from your original. For example, my ECM is P/N 1227730 and the Memcal assembly is for my car. Yours may or may not have the memcal assembly.
