Dimmer switch...headlight switch... HELP

OK, The dimmer switch no longer works...my interiors are on full blast. I swapped switches, that didnt do it. Also, in order to drop my headlights, I have to turn both the parking lights and the headlights off, then turn the parking lights on, then off, THEN the headlights go down....whats with that!?

Do you really mean the "interior" lights, or are you referring to the the instrument cluster lights dimmer controlled by rotating the headlight switch ****?

If you already replaced the light switch, then there is a short somewhere. +12 volts is supplied to the cluster lights through the light switch and rheostat (variable resistor) in the light switch, so the cluster lights must be getting +12 volts from another part of the light circuit - if the cluster lights only turn on if the light switch is in the running light or head light positions. Has anything been modified, or repaired prior to the problems occuring?
