this is re: my TCC lockup switch. ok i followed the blk/wht wire as far as i could and couldnt see if it was grounded. so i just spliced into the F wire (tan/blk) i think and attached it to a ground area....by the door jam. NOTHIN!!!!! what do i do. i remember when i attached a switch between the F and A terminals the little light came on. but when i pushed the brake the light turned off and once i released it, it came back on...but it didnt do anything to my TC. does it have anything to do with the fact that i had my tranny rebuilt and the put a new TC in it?? i dont know if it is a lockup TC. thanks in advance...rick

What gear were you in? The TC will only lock up in second, third or overdrive. The light should light whenever you throw the switch (regardless of gear), but it is misleading because it only shows when the lockup circuit is closed. It is not an indication of actual lockup.

Try this: Find a steady cruising speed in second gear. The ECM will not lock the converter in this gear. Then throw the switch. If the converter locks, you will definitely know it. It will feel like a relatively hard shift and your rpm's will drop significantly. If this doesn't work, the converter is not locking up.

Check the plug at the transmission. If it is seated properly, verify continutiy through the tan / blk wire up to the ALDL connector, and check for ignition power at the purple wire.
