GM wiper problems

Not a TG subject but may be of interest if you own a late model GM car or light truck. 97 and up vehicles may exxperience intermittent wiper operation or no wiper operation. Remove the plastic cover from the control module(you may have to remove motor assy to gain access) and gently pull out the control pc board. It basically just rests in the housing and is held in by the connector pins. Just pry the board in the area of the connector and it will pop out. Have a rag handy, it is covered with a mucky insulating grease. Look at the plug area where it attaches to the pc board with a magnifing glass. You will see hairline cracks around the pins from the connector where they attach to the board. Resolder these pins with an electronic solder(60/40 tin lead, or 1% silver type)and reinstall. You will save a pile of money and in 9 out of 10 cases will restore normal operation.
