Do I really have to splice into the factory wiring?
I need to hookup my new Dakota Digital SGI-5 box, and I need a power source. The thing is, I really want to avoid having to cut any factory wiring. Is there anywhere I can get 12V from without compromising any other components, and without splicing anything?

You think I should hook it up straight to the factory distribution block thats next to the battery? I already have my amp wired to that, and I've been told that compromises the current going to the components getting current from that distribution block. Would it be too difficult to wire it to an unused spot on the fuse panel?
You may have to replace the wire from the battery to that "distribution" point. The only real way it would compromise the other components is if the draw through that point exceeded the wire from the battery's ability to provide the current. An amp and other add-ons would probably do that. Just put run a larger gauge wire from the battery to that post and you should be okay.
Or you could do like I did and get a dual side/top post battery and use the side terminals for the car and the top terminals for accessories.
